Canvas course:

All athletes should enroll in the Canvas course: https://bsd.instructure.com/enroll/6XDYAM

Apparel Last Call:

Orders are due by midnight Sunday, April 11: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jOOhX1jq0B1lptrPkRZjqri7SXOQaB8U7omxP99QaDg/edit?usp=sharing

Masks:

Any athlete requiring repeated reminders about appropriate mask wear will be suspended from practice. A second suspension will result in removal from the team. Participation this spring is contingent on wearing a mask that covers both nose and mouth. Here is an article about running masks you might find helpful: https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/a33369930/best-face-masks-for-runners/.

A number of athletes report that paper disposable masks like these are comfortable and remain in place.

Being Prepared at Practice:

All athletes should have a bag with their name clearly printed on it as many bags look the same. Each athlete must bring water bottle also with their name on it.

Sprinters and jumpers should be in the habit of bringing their spiked racing shoes to practice EVERY day. There is a note about acquiring these shoes in our FAQ document.

Attendance/Practice Times and Dates:

We have practice every weekday with check-ins at 3pm from now until the end of our season, including days without school. We ask our athletes and their families to make the commitment to being a part of our team. This means attending daily. Please make every effort to be on time so that we can begin on time.

Here are some examples of what would constitute an excusable absence from practice:

1) Illness, especially this year! Please don't come if sick! Better safe than sorry...

2) Doctor's appointments (including vaccination opportunities)

3) Major family events (like a grandfather's 100th birthday)

4) College visits

Reasons to NOT miss practice:

1) A job

2) Second cousin's 7th birthday or other insignificant family events… we ask you to use judgment when considering their importance.

3) Photography Club meeting (clubs take a backseat during the season)

4) Tutoring, study groups, make-up tests, etc. (Academics are important to us but please schedule these items around practice times)

5) Another sport's practice (speak to coaches if a competition might create a conflict)

Not every athlete is able to make the commitment to being a part of the track team.

ATHLETES REPORT ALL ABSENCES USING THE ATTENDANCE LINK ON CANVAS.

Donations:

Please note that we are not conducting a formal fundraiser this spring. We are asking all families to consider making a donation to our team to help with expenses. Please use the online payment system and select "Track Donation" from the submenus. Thank you for your support!

Track community,

I want to apologize for the paperwork misunderstanding today. The communication mistake was mine and I sincerely apologize to anyone who was inconvenienced by the error. It is now clear that EVERY athlete needs a COVID waiver form with TRACK in the blank for "sport/activity". This form is required only once for the track season. (One does have the option of listing multiple sports and activities on the same form).

ALL athletes must complete the check-in in 2-hall each day. Circumventing the check-in process is not good for anyone. While we hope that it doesn't happen, athletes caught avoiding the check-in could face suspension from practice or meets.

ALL athletes will check-in at 3:00 pm for practice. We hope that everyone will be able to use this week to work out any kinks with transportation. In the event that transportation is an issue, as with all absences, athletes must use the absence reporting form: https://forms.gle/vLsrWEG2Jt9pFhY86. Practice plans will post to Canvas: https://bsd.instructure.com/enroll/6XDYAM.

Thank you for all of your support, patience, and understanding,

Coach Neeway

There will be no changes to our first day plans. ALL athletes NOT participating in fall sports arrive for check-in at 3:00. ALL fall sport athletes, excepting soccer players, arrive for check-in at 4:00.

The change? The OHA and, by consequence, the OSAA have changed the rules governing "group counts" for outdoor recreation. Instead of setting a limit at 150 people at our current status in Washington County, the limits have been adjusted now read "25% of maximum capacity."

The first consequence of this change is this: we can confidently state that, with the exception of select fall sport groups, ALL athletes can expect to have check-in for practice begin at 3:00 pm every day this week.

The remaining consequences is still not known at this time and will likely include our competition schedule. As coaches, we learned about the change last night around 9:00 pm. We will be learning more this morning. Please watch the FAQ for updates. Canvas, too.
