Sunset Track community,

The coaching staff is beyond excited to kick off our season with you on Monday. This message will broadcast to as many outlets as possible but there will only be two channels through which future communication will happen this spring:

1) weekly to families via the "Coaches' Blog" on our website: www.SunsetTrack.com

2) daily to athletes through the Canvas "course" for track: https://bsd.instructure.com/enroll/6XDYAM

The schedule for Monday's practice is already posted to the Canvas course as will all practice plans for the season. A thorough FAQ document containing similar detail has been posted to the website. Please familiarize yourself with both of these resources.

We are unable to make firm plans without a firmer sense of the number of athletes who will comprise our roster. Please help us solidify this number by registering ASAP: https://sunset.beaverton.k12.or.us/athletics/athletic-registration. Additionally, we need all athletes to complete the brief questionnaire: https://forms.gle/j2LzDh78MDPb6cGh9

Optional team apparel is available for order at this time. Please find information at this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jOOhX1jq0B1lptrPkRZjqri7SXOQaB8U7omxP99QaDg/edit?usp=sharing. Orders are due Sunday, April 11, at midnight, with likely delivery two weeks later.

Let's have a great season together!

Athletes and Families, as we near the final week of our COVID season, which is actually an overlap with the 1st week of track :), I want you to know that I do not take the joy of being a part of this team for granted. This year, more than ever, I look forward to our time together each and every day. I love watching you run; I am proud of you when you carefully make your way through an injury and run your first race. I am proud of you when I have watched you grow into the accomplished athlete and individual of integrity over 4 years. I am proud of you when you are in tears because you did not finish a race, or you do or don't puke. I am proud of you when you wear your masks without complaint. I am proud of you when you cheer for all of your team mates. You see, what we do as distance runners, it is not easy. It is actually really hard. So, now you know, you can do hard things.

In case you don't know, I also love to take pictures to capture our season. You can find this year's gallery as well as past years here on this site. https://www.sunsettrack.com/xc-photos

Lots of Love,

Coach Rozendaal

We are closing down our cross country season. For many of our athletes, this means a transition into the "spring sports" of track, baseball, softball, tennis, and golf. To that end, this message addresses both of the next two weeks.

Week 6

Back to normal with the resumption of classes, we return to 3:00 check-ins for regular weekday practices.

Here are the details for Wednesday's meet at Jesuit (3/31):

  • Check-ins between 12:30pm and 12:45pm

  • Bus departs Sunset @ 1:00pm

  • 2:30pm: 5k race for athletes who will complete the course in under 23:00

  • 3:00pm: 5k race for athletes who will complete the course in over 23:00

  • Bus departs Jesuit @ 4:15ish

  • Race results will be posted live to live.Athletic.net

These races will be the biggest of the season as we will race BOTH Jesuit and Westview at the same time on the same course. Like normal, except for the masks.

Week 7

There will be no XC practice this week. The time window from 3:00pm to 5:00pm is carved out just for spring sports. The XC team will instead have "on your own" practices on Monday and Tuesday.

On Wednesday, April 7, our last race of the season will be held at Cedar Park MS. With the other Beaverton SD schools, we will have 6-person relay teams with each leg running 2k laps on the following schedule:

  • Check-ins between 2:00pm and 2:15pm

  • Bus departs Sunset @ 2:30pm

  • Girls relay race @ 4:00pm

  • Boys relay race @ 5:00pm

  • Bus departs CPMS @ 6:15ish

Some members of our varsity team may compete in a race on Saturday, April 10, at Rose City Golf Course. These athletes will be communicated with directly.

End of Season Celebration

Plans are still in the works for an end-of-season celebration. Stay tuned.
