We are closing down our cross country season. For many of our athletes, this means a transition into the "spring sports" of track, baseball, softball, tennis, and golf. To that end, this message addresses both of the next two weeks.

Week 6

Back to normal with the resumption of classes, we return to 3:00 check-ins for regular weekday practices.

Here are the details for Wednesday's meet at Jesuit (3/31):

  • Check-ins between 12:30pm and 12:45pm

  • Bus departs Sunset @ 1:00pm

  • 2:30pm: 5k race for athletes who will complete the course in under 23:00

  • 3:00pm: 5k race for athletes who will complete the course in over 23:00

  • Bus departs Jesuit @ 4:15ish

  • Race results will be posted live to

These races will be the biggest of the season as we will race BOTH Jesuit and Westview at the same time on the same course. Like normal, except for the masks.

Week 7

There will be no XC practice this week. The time window from 3:00pm to 5:00pm is carved out just for spring sports. The XC team will instead have "on your own" practices on Monday and Tuesday.

On Wednesday, April 7, our last race of the season will be held at Cedar Park MS. With the other Beaverton SD schools, we will have 6-person relay teams with each leg running 2k laps on the following schedule:

  • Check-ins between 2:00pm and 2:15pm

  • Bus departs Sunset @ 2:30pm

  • Girls relay race @ 4:00pm

  • Boys relay race @ 5:00pm

  • Bus departs CPMS @ 6:15ish

Some members of our varsity team may compete in a race on Saturday, April 10, at Rose City Golf Course. These athletes will be communicated with directly.

End of Season Celebration

Plans are still in the works for an end-of-season celebration. Stay tuned.

Hello track community!

Both the cross country (XC, for short) and track programs share the same website, the XC message are about to end and the track messages will begin. You can distinguish between announcements by checking the headline.

This past Friday morning, our track meet schedule was mostly finalized. We have meets to plan for! You can see for yourself on

We are actively assembling a FAQ page to cover as many of the unique details for the upcoming season as possible. Link here. It includes a practice schedules for the week of April 5, including for those who are involved in a fall sport. We will continue to update the document until the first day of practice, highlighting all changes made along the way.

Between now and April 5, we are asking ALL interested in participating this spring to:

1. Complete the registration process ASAP at this link:

2. Complete this brief survey before the season begins:

3. Keep moving. Or start moving. We know that many high schoolers these days often don't have a reason to even leave their house during the day. You have one now. Take the dog for a walk. Go for a hike. Play basketball at the park or in the driveway. Then repeat. At least TWICE a day. EVERY DAY. Now isn't the time to run a half-marathon if you haven't run halfway down the street.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding in these difficult and demanding times! Our philosophy as a program remains unchanged as we move into the 2021 season though we acknowledge that we do not have all the answers at this time, as we normally do.

On behalf of the Sunset Track & Field Coaching Staff,

Coach Neeway

Go Apollos!!!

Hello team,

We will have two practice sessions over Spring Break: Tuesday and Friday at 9:30 AM. Check-in like usual, expect Tuesday to last just a little longer than usual. Workouts for the week will be posted to Canvas tomorrow morning.

We want to encourage all of our athletes to get as far away from screens and schedules as possible (except for their sleep schedule). This week should be one of rest and recuperation, more than ever! But not a break from running and training! Remember: we have just one and a half weeks left after Spring Break and we don't want anyone to take steps backward this week.

We hope that EVERY family will support their athletes and help them make time for running and physical activity this week, regardless of where they might be.

To all those who are lucky enough to be traveling this week: safe travels! Please be vigilant in maintaining COVID safety while away from home. In the event of accident exposure, please exercise the extremest of caution on your return so as not to jeopardize the team's ability to train and compete.

Have a great week!
