Welp...

Late yesterday afternoon, the Beaverton School District announced plans to start the school year with a delayed start (September 14) and two full months of "Comprehensive Distance Learning". Already in writing, BSD has a page of FAQs where the following is written:

How will high school sports work?
If we’re operating in Comprehensive Distance Learning, organized sports won’t occur. When we move to a Hybrid Model, sports may resume with social distancing measures.

So that does it. Cross country will not be a fall sport. The district has not made a formal announcement yet but I am not convinced that one will follow.

On the plus side, yesterday's announcement from Governor Brown and PPS announcing similar plans have changed things for the state. Last night, shortly after 10:00 pm, I received an email from OSAA staff. They are now looking at ways to adjust the Oregon schedule to look more like something from a neighboring state* and make an announcement on August 5.

Of course, none of this means a thing if the spread of the virus isn't brought under control by mid-November.

WEAR. A. MASK.

I will continue to use this platform to post and share information as it comes available.

Best regards,

Coach Neeway
