Week 1 Plans / Parent Meeting Follow-up
First, a reminder that all athletes must be registered through the BSD registration system: https://sunset.beaverton.k12.or.us/athletics/athletic-registration. Included in registration is the COVID waiver of liability available here: https://sunset.beaverton.k12.or.us/fs/resource-manager/view/563efd73-a3bb-4eec-9d2e-d07fb9085b98. With the exception of the COVID form, all registration is online and must be done BEFORE arriving at Sunset HS for check-in and practice.
The COVID waiver of liability form is submitted in person at the first practice attended. Only one copy of the form is required during the school year. If an athlete has already submitted a copy during season 1 activity (XC off-season, basketball conditioning, etc), a second form is not required.
It is the expectation of the team that all athletes will make every effort to attend practice on a daily basis. We are asking families to prioritize their commitment to Sunset Cross Country during our season together. All athletes must attend 5 practices before they can compete.
Athletes are encouraged to be absent from practice when their health might compromise the health of other team members, coaches, and the broader community. Please be safe. Athletes should report absences using this form: https://forms.gle/AtdrL1RBmvHWqfbi6.
WEEK 1 SCHEDULE
ALL GROUPS: MONDAY
Boys team: check-in* at 3:00 pm, meet on tennis courts outside T-building, finish at 4:45 pm
Girls team: check-in* at 3:30 pm, meet on tennis courts outside T-building, finish at 5:00 pm
Purple and white group rosters will be communicated to athletes on Monday at the end practice. Generally speaking, rosters will be determined by the following criteria:
Purple Group: varsity-level runners and varsity-aspirants
White Group: novice runners and lower mileage athletes
PURPLE GROUP: TUESDAY THRU THURSDAY
Check-in at 3:00 pm, meet at track pavilion, finish at 5:00 pm
Friday and Saturday will be OYO runs (on-your-own)
WHITE GROUP: TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY
Tuesday and Wednesday check-in at 3:30 pm, meet at track pavilion, finish at 5:00 pm
Friday check-in at 3:00 pm, meet at track pavilion, finish at 4:45 pm
Athletes will be given guidance about how to train on Thursday for an OYO run (on-your-own)
Please don't anticipate that purple and white groups will have the same days off each week.
HOW TO CHECK-IN
At your first practice, bring the COVID waiver form (link above). Athletes enter the school building at the south end of 2-hall next to the cafeteria. Please bring your phone to interact with the QR code for both daily check-in and check-out.
For practice drop-off and pick up, use Cornell Rd to enter the front of the school. Use the bus lanes to drop off and pick up your athletes without entering the rear drive or student parking lot on the south side of the school. There is shelter at this location in the event of rain. This will help us to avoid congestion and adhere to the guidelines we need to maintain in order to continue our season. Thank you in advance for following these recommendations.
