XC Week 3

Week 3 practice schedule:

We are asking ALL athletes to be a part of practice each of the 5 days next week. We expect to see every athlete every day. Please see the note about attendance from this earlier post: https://www.sunsettrack.com/post/xc-week-2-plans.

Please arrive daily to Sunset NO LATER than 3:00 pm to complete check-in so that we can begin practice in a timely manner.

Lower volume runners can expect to finish between 4:30 and 4:45 on Tuesday and Friday, 5:00 on Monday and Thursday.

Some of our runners who are managing injuries may be dismissed earlier. Some runners who are managing injuries are being instructed to remain home from practice until their injuries allow them to participate. Most years, we have indoor crosstraining options. Not this year.

Week 2 notes:

This past week was great!!! I am so proud of our team for how they acted and competed on Wednesday! Especially how they conform to the mask-wearing rule! It was also so wonderful to have had parents on campus as spectators. You can see some pictures from the day posted to our instagram account: @apollosxc.

This season has been going better than any of us could ever have imagined. We are learning every day that there are issues that we never knew that we might encounter. But the athletes have been phenomenal, especially in their willingness to follow social distancing and masking rules.

We are also so grateful for the generous parent efforts this past week to provide the goodie bags at Tuesday's practice. The kids loved the attention and effort. Coaches, too. Thank you!

Wednesday 3/10 meet against Mountainside:

On Wednesday, ALL athletes check-in at Sunset between 2:15 and 2:25. DO NOT BE LATE.

Two buses will be provided for athletes with a maximum capacity on each bus of 40 individuals. We expect that the bus will return to Sunset at about 6:00pm.

For those wishing to drive separately, here are the requirements:

  • Families must fill out this BSD form, sign it, and return it to Coach Neeway (we can accept paper in person at practice or electronic submissions via email). Link to the form

  • Athlete must complete the COVID check-in with the team at Sunset

  • Families can leave Sunset when team loads the bus

  • Athletes driving separately must enter and depart the away facility at the same time as the team on the bus

If you have questions about the policy, please ask.

There will be no spectators on Wednesday as we are the visiting team.

On last thing:

We just want to remind everyone about the high stakes of irresponsible behavior this spring. You may or may not have heard about the shutdowns at Lake Oswego HS this past week. It would be horrible for our shortened season to become even shorter... We want to remind every member of our team and community to continue following best practices for masking up and social distancing. This would include things like team dinners: as much as we all look forward to the day that we can get together this way, we are asking that families refrain from planning or organizing events like these during our season.

Thank you!
